What is The Grand Escape

Three escapes. Zero KOMs.

Three road bikepacking events without rankings, time trials, or wanna-be pro stuff. Leave the KOMs behind. Ride with your head up, watch the landscape go by, and share the road with people who get it: backroads, cycle paths, hills and mountain passes across Europe. No social pressure, no race. Come as you are.

Rider voices

From the people who rode.

Each climb takes you to a more beautiful place than the next. A true celebration of cycling.
Francesco Italy
I had tears in my eyes more than once. The people you meet along the route are incredibly kind, helpful, friendly. The nature you experience — it's an adventure.
Tanja Austria
We were surprised by how many cycle paths there were — always protected, completely safe, never stressed by traffic.
Celine France
Taking part in an event like this is different. What I'll remember is the landscape, passing other riders I'd met the day before, stopping to talk.
Carlos Portugal
Whoever designed this route, thank you. It pulls you into the landscape and makes you the protagonist of all that beauty. The moment you live on the bicycle becomes magical.
Francesco Italy
It was better than I expected — so much so that when we had to ride on roads with traffic, I was annoyed. There were so many paths just for bicycles.
Joanne United Kingdom
A good dose of rest, of recharging. These days took me right out of my daily routine. I feel more fulfilled when I'm here, even just for a few days.
Roland Hungary
The special thing about an organized event is that you just follow the route. You can't get lost, you don't have to think about right or left — you just enjoy nature, enjoy the ride, turn off your brain.
Timo Germany
Since this isn't a race but an event, everyone was helping each other. We had a flat tire and every single person stopped to ask if they could help.
Caitlin Netherlands
01

Forget the race mentality.

Leave your power meter at home. Your Strava segments can wait. The riders around you aren't competitors — they're fellow travellers. People who understand the best cycling stories can't be measured in watts. Share a coffee. Stop for photos. Laugh at the climbs.

02

Roads worth your time.

We spend years finding the routes others miss. Hidden backroads that connect real places. Cycle paths that feel like private trails. Secondary roads where cars are rare and the views make stopping irresistible. No traffic anxiety, no dodging buses — just you and the road.

03

Your schedule. Your way.

Start at sunrise or sleep in. Stop for long lunches or pack energy bars. No checkpoints, no cutoff times, no officials telling you when to ride or where to rest. Unsupported bikepacking at its purest — the freedom to experience the journey exactly as you want.

04 ● Media team on the route

Stories worth telling: yours.

Our media team follows the routes, capturing moments you'll keep. Not just finish-line photos, but the real story — your face when you crest that hill, the coffee stop that turned into an hour of laughter, the sunset that made you forget you were tired.

"Before every hill became a competition."

Why we started

Cycling, like the first time.

We believe cycling should feel like it did when you first discovered the joy of two wheels. Before power meters and social media turned rides into spreadsheets. Before every hill became a competition and every photo became content.

What we're after is simpler — the smell of morning air on empty roads, conversations that happen when you share miles with strangers, the satisfaction of reaching a viewpoint not because you beat a time but because you chose to be there.

We scout every kilometre ourselves. We test every route more than once. No shortcuts, no compromises — just the rides we wanted to take, opened up to people who ride the same way.
